The export of wood products sector strip with a rise of 21.8%

  • These data (excluding furniture sub-sector) place Galicia the exporting region, with 249.8 million euros in foreign sales, a 26.4% increase over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, imports have fallen by 5.9%, to 844.3 million euros in purchases abroad.This is an increase of 21.8% over the same period in 2010 in exports, which have been led by Galicia, in regard to more export autonomy.Although in absolute import exceeds export, it should be noted that in the chapter on foreign purchases included wood as raw material sectors such as furniture.

  • The Spanish Confederation of Wood (CONFEMADERA) has released the results of foreign trade in wood products (excluding furniture) for the first eight months of 2011, which show revenues of 754.2 million euros in sales sector the outside.
    Galicia Autonomous Region remains the leader in exports of wood, with 249.9 million euros, a rise of 26.4% over the first eight months of 2010, followed by Catalonia, with 114.8 million euros and 36.8% increase, Valencia (103.1 million €, +14.4%) and Castilla y León (59.9 million €, -1.6%).
    Wood products continue to have Spanish as the main target the EU and, within it, are the neighboring Portugal and France the first recipients of our products.Thus Portugal, with 187.8 million euros, is at the head buyers of Spanish manufactures of wood, followed by France with 139.4 million and the United Kingdom with 66.9 million euros.
    Fiber boards are the most exported products to 147 million euros in sales in the first eight months of the year, followed by particle board (€ 104.2 million) and plywood, veneer and laminated (95.8 million €).Once again, the internationalization is revealed as an essential strategy for companies wishing to compete in a market increasingly contested.

     

    The Export Sector Plan Articles of Wood is funded by the Government of Spain through the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute (ICEX).
    According to Huidobro Francis, President of CONFEMADERA, Recent trade data confirm that the export of wood products is pushing the sector with a rise of over 21% during the first eight months of the year.Here are placed Valencia (138.9 million €, -6.8%) and Madrid (108.9 million €, -9.4%).
    As for the origin of imports of wood products, Portugal returns to position itself as a leading supplier of our country, with € 138.2 million, followed by France with € 116.5 million, and Germany (€ 79millones).

    By regions, Catalonia leads imports of wood products, with € 179.8 million in purchases from abroad and a decrease of 5.7% over the previous year.
