CONFEMADERA, HOST BUILD PROJECT BUILDING WITH WOOD WITH EUROPE-WOOD-IN MADRID

12 and September 13 was held in Madrid, the Spanish Confederation of Wood (CONFEMADERA) to host a meeting of the Building With Wood project CEI-Bois, home of the Spanish project build with wood, with the aim to learn about what is happening in the European project and explore possible synergies with the Spanish project.

Building With Wood project, promoted in Spain by the Spanish Confederation of Wood (CONFEMADERA) is a major strategic projects of the sector for the coming years.

Among the topics covered at the meeting stressed the updating of the status of initiatives already undertaken in the framework of projects and the planning of new activities: ECO2, and Eurocode Mechwood II, which explained the status of these and feasibility studies developed.

This is one of the basic lines of action included in the European Roadmap Wood, implementing the European employers CEI-Bois to turn wood into one of the reference materials in construction, decoration and interior design.

The balance of this European meeting was positive, as it has served to bring together the work being done at European and Spanish in the field of timber construction, and to identify potential synergies and projects working to develop European level with the aim of turning wood into one of the reference materials in construction.It also analyzed the problems affecting the construction industry in wood and examined the new R & D carried out recently and its impact on the sector.

Building With Wood proposes, among its objectives: to increase the use of wood and wood products in construction, end the institutional, technical, economic and perceptions that exist on this material, create tools and aids for enhanced use of wood; involve the entire supply chain initiatives in the different proposals, training and information, developing activities aimed at specific interest groups (specifiers, architects and customers), to transmit to society the values ​​and qualities of wood as a material construction: sustainable, durable, reliable storage of CO2, etc..

Building with wood is an Integrated Project under the Spanish Council for Promotion of Wood, a consortium that brings together the various efforts and advocacy initiatives developed by the timber industry.
