Organized a course on CONFEMADERA DESIGN AND CALCULATION OF STRUCTURES WITH WOOD

The Spanish Confederation of Wood, CONFEMADERA organizes a course on Design and calculation of timber structures for teachers of family FP professional woodworking and furniture under the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Education.

  • Properties of wood as a structural material: physical and mechanical characteristics of wood.
  • Timber strength classes: classification, characteristic values ​​and strong class system.
  • Products derived from the structural timber, boards, and laminated wood structural members (manufacturing).
  • Ultimate limit states (depletion of sections): general, tension parallel and perpendicular tangential.
  • Full example (fire hall): manual calculation and computer calculation.The course will take place from 26 to 30 September in the School of Forestry Engineers (ETSIM) in Madrid.

    The course, 30 hours, will focus on the following contents:

    • Introduction, species and dimensions, introduction to structural analysis.
    • Wood structural design and construction details.
    • Cadwork and numerical control.
    • Unions: general, media union, introduction to calculus and examples of calculation.
    • Predimensioning in lumber and plywood.
    • Constructive organization and stability of the building.
    • Basis of calculation rules, classes of service, duration of load, material properties and actions.
    • Serviceability limit states (deformation) and creep deformation limit.
    • Pathology, protection and durability: pathology, risk classes, choice of protection and design protection.
    • Calculation in a position to fire: fire behavior, databases
    • Calculation.
    • Checks glulam singular: parts of variable depth, guideline curved corner areas and calculation by computer.Examples of calculation.
    • Exercise (example): tutorial Cadwork struma and design.
    • Draft a cover.

  • Project runway.
    • The course will be taught by leading professionals in the sector, which together with the theoretical program will raise real examples and practical exercises to be developed by students.
    According to the President of CONFEMADERA Francisco Huidobro, l to training and employment go hand in hand, hence the importance of this agreement with the Ministry of Education does enhance the relationship between Training and the companies in order to achieve better match between the training from the education sector and the requirements of the jobs in the productive sector of the wood and furniture, resulting in increased employability.
